We take the privacy of lodges and their members seriously. This notice explains, in plain words, what information we hold, why we hold it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Masonic Lodge Websites service.
Who we are
Masonic Lodge Websites provides and hosts websites for Masonic lodges. For the information you give us to run your account and your site, we are the data controller. For the content you publish on your own lodge site, you are the controller and we process it on your behalf.
What we collect
- Account details: the name, email address and lodge details you provide when registering.
- Site content: the words, images and event details you add to your lodge website.
- Billing information: handled securely by our payment provider, Stripe. We do not see or store your card number.
- Technical information: basic logs needed to keep the service secure and working, such as IP addresses and error records.
Why we use it
- To create, host and look after your lodge website.
- To take payment for your subscription and send receipts.
- To answer your questions and provide support.
- To keep the service secure and to meet our legal obligations.
What we never do
We do not sell your information, and we do not pass it to advertisers. We use it only to provide the service you have asked for.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and site information for as long as your subscription is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal and accounting duties. You can ask us to delete your account, and we will, subject to those duties.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you may ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. To exercise any of these rights, write to us at [email protected] and we will respond promptly.
Members’ details on your site
Please publish only what is appropriate and consented to. We encourage lodges to share a single contact address rather than members’ personal details. You are responsible for the content you choose to publish.
Questions about your privacy?
Write to [email protected] or use our contact form. We are glad to help.
This notice is provided in good faith and in plain language. It is a summary of our practices and not a substitute for formal legal advice for your own Lodge.
